Stuart Clarke
Coach Clarke has coached Soccer since he was 16. He is passionate about the game but moreover the development of the individual players. He has coached in England, New York and now ‘home’ in Utah! During his time here, he has helped lead the Timpview HS Boys Soccer to their first state semi-final in 17 years and the Girls program to two HS state semi-finals. He has coached club soccer at Utah FC, Arsenal and Utah Valley United. As a certified club and high school referee he sees the other side of the game. He continues to work on his coaching badge credentials and is studying for his Youth Soccer B License. He is the Utah ODP 2014 head boys coach and assistant coach to the 2012 girls, selecting, developing and training them to compete at combine in Mesquite and Championships in Mesa.
During his playing career in the United Kingdom, he represented his country as a member of a select 5-a-side team playing Coventry City Reserves and Aston Villa. He has played in the prestigious English FA Cup Competition and was voted ‘Man of the match’ in a game with England players Michael Owen and Emile Heskey. On arriving in Utah 2010, Coach Clarke’s team won the Men’s and Coed Division 1 titles. He still enjoys playing and can often be seen ‘jumping in’ with the players during scrimmages.
Coach Clarke has organized many soccer tours to England, Spain and Italy where players were coached by English Premier league, LaLiga and Serie ‘A’ club coaches. He has decided to continue with this exciting development to take teams to Europe to immerse players with opportunities to participate in different cultural and educational coaching styles to enhance development and further open up the world of soccer.
Coach Clarke’s vision has always been about giving back. Helping enable players and coaches to achieve their goals is of foremost importance. Making soccer inclusive; creating opportunities for every child. He is excited to assist developing the Utah Valley United soccer program and Academy into the first choice for the valleys promising athletes.
Professionally, Coach Clarke holds a Diploma (B.S. Equivalent in the U.K.) in Financial Services and was a certified Chartered Banker. He was a former Member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers, United Kingdom. Since moving to Utah, he started his own business in network marketing and runs an organization with over 19,000 associates.
Coach Clarke is originally from the Isle of Man. Although most of his children have ‘flown the nest’ Coach Clarke loves to stay involved in their lives. He adopted his autistic stepson and considers himself an “autism dad.” He is interested in health & nutrition, loves travel adventures, and enjoys chocolate and soccer is everyday!
